Bang bang shrimp is incredible, but for me one of the things that really sets it off is the beautiful sauce that you often see with it.
And while it obviously goes great with shrimp, I’ve also had it go great with chicken, meatballs, salmon, and tuna steak (yes, really!)… although perhaps that’s just me.
I think one of the best things about this sauce is that while a lot of hot sauces don’t appeal to people who don’t like their food spicy, bang bang sauce tends go down great with both spicy and non-spicy lovers alike.
Anyway, it just made sense to do a whole post by itself dedicated to the wondrous tangy and creamy sauce: Bang bang sauce!
How to make your new favorite bang bang sauce recipe
It’s beautifully simple to make, and can easily be done while you’re preparing your main meal just while you have a minute to spare.
Its spice comes from sriracha, and then that unmistakable creaminess comes from mayonnaise. All of that with some rice wine vinegar, red pepper flakes, and a touch of sugar combines to make an addictive sauce!
I should just caveat this by saying that the sugar is very much to my own taste as I like these things a little sweet, but it’s just as good without! If you’re unsure, just add slowly and do a taste test as you go.
Whisk all of these ingredients together in a bowl until well combined and even. Just evenly coat the shrimp/chicken/whatever you’ve prepared with the sauce and you are good to go!
Crikey, it’s difficult writing these posts while hungry!
