          Cons

          • Poor speed cooking feature

Tired of leaving your kitchen a steam-filled mess after trying to cook larger portions of rice? Fear not because there are plenty of rice cookers out there that can make the difference and help you get things back on track. The Zojirushi rice cooker brand have been well received for quite a while now and their 5 1/2 cup model is a solid addition to your cooking instruments and if you are looking for something reliable to just get the job done for you, then you may struggle to get better value elsewhere.

This steamer and cooker is a brilliant tool – but how does it stand up to some of its competitors? You may be able to get something slightly cheaper, but are the features as snazzy as they could have been?

          Features

Not only can this cook rice, but it also has a steaming basket installed which makes it perfect as a cake baker and a warmer! Perfect, right?

That’s not all, though. It can take up to ten cups of rice at a time and with a variety of different cooking instructions on the side you can really interchange the type of cooking you are doing that night, letting you really vary up your style and your technique.

As well as having a detachable inner lid and a great LED control panel you can keep up to date with all the changes and also keep it sparkling shiny with much greater ease than other alternatives out there on the road.

          Performance

While some have said it’s not as snazzy and as powerful as it should have been, it’s got a feature-heavy load as mentioned above to keep it ahead of the game. its performance is satisfying and it gives you plenty of warning about when the cooking is finished, so you don’t need to stand there and tap your toes until it finishes.

It’s quick, it’s fairly mobile and its efficient – in terms of performance, for the price it does a very good job. If you pay more you will obviously get something with a bit more of a kick to it, but this is a fairly big, powerful and quick enough rice cooker which is well worth looking into.

          In Conclusion

The stainless steel exterior means that it will remain looking good and easy to clean forever, and it comes with some nice little extras to help make the rice cooking that little bit easier. Definitely worth a glance if you are looking to pick up a solid and reliable rice cooker.

          1. You can use a rice cooker for brown rice. You just need to add a litlte more water and it takes a litlte more time. For white rice I use 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. For brown rice I use 1.75 cups of water for 1 cup of brown rice.I like using a rice cooker because the cooker will automatically switch from cook to warmer mode, but I’ve used a sauce pan and it’s worked too.
