Oatmeal is a great breakfast meal, but doesn’t always serve those of us who want something quick and ready first thing in the morning. Luckily, oatmeal can be made while you sleep! Overnight oatmeal is delicious, refreshing and easily experimented with to make the perfect flavor for you.
In this post today I’m going to explain the basic recipe, and hopefully serve up some inspiration for you to make your own with the toppings and flavors that you love most.
So the overnight oatmeal recipe that I’ve always followed goes something like this…
Mix rolled oats with your choice of milk, water or yogurt in a simple 1:1 ratio. If you prefer steel cut oats then use a bit more liquid. Stir in your choice of dried fruit and spices (or none!) into the mix.
Pour your mix into an airtight container (I prefer a glass jar) and leave to soak overnight in your fridge. In the morning, add further toppings like fresh fruit or nuts.
