Features

To start with our ThermoPro TP20 review, let us go through all the features that it brings to the table. First up, the most essential aspect of the device — the probes. The TP20 comes with dual probe monitors that are meant to work on not just food but also your oven, grill, and smoker. Standard practice to take advantage of the dual probe capacity is to stick one on the food and the other one on your grill. This is also quite beneficial if you are worried about fluctuating temperatures.

This digital wireless ThermoPro TP20 meat thermometer offers hands-free monitoring. This means it will enable you to monitor your food, oven, grill, or smoker temperature at a convenient 300 feet away. Imagine you are entertaining guests but cooking is not yet done, this way, you don’t have to leave your visitors whenever you’re preparing your meal.

It also comes with USDA temperature preset settings. You can never be too careful and food poisoning is something that can easily be prevented. You’ll have a thermometer that comes with 9 types of temperature presets for your favorite meat.

Not only that, the TP20 thermometer also offers the option to test the level of doneness for what you’re cooking and of course they are also according to USDA standards. An expert cook? Don’t worry, the presets can be modified and programmed into your preferences with the “program” setting, quite a flexible and accomodating device isn’t it?

The meat presets include beef, veal, poultry, chicken, pork, fish, and lamb. Your taste levels would be rare, medium, medium rare, medium well, and of course well done.

Aside from the presets the TP20 thermometer also has an easy to read and large enough LCD. Durable buttons, and an easy-grip design. It has an auto shut off function to conserve battery and a built-in alarm that would really inform you promptly once you are done cooking.

It’s unquestionably an upgrade on the popular TP15 range.

Design and Build

Let’s talk about the dual probe some more mas it is the most important part of your TP20 thermometer. The probes are made of stainless steel, and as we all know, steel conducts and retains heat rather well.

It has a step-down tip design for a more accurate and precise reading of the temperature. The probe wires can then withstand a maximum of 716 degrees F. Not only that, but the 40 inches wire also is made up of more stainless steel. The probes are also rust and corrosions resistant which makes them super easy to clean and maintain.

The TP20 thermometer’s receiver and transmitter are then wrapped up in a bright orange rubber so it won’t slip your hands while multi-tasking.

Setup and Use

Setup your ThemePro TP 20 with no hassles at all. It requires no synch and no tiresome setup steps. The large LCD will make sure to display both your food and your oven’s temperature plus the timer for utmost convenience. This will ensure that no matter what you’ll still have full control over everything. This thermometer also has a backlight which would be useful for low-light conditions.

It is pretty straightforward and the manual that comes with it is user-friendly enough to tell you all the things that you need to know to operate it efficiently. The backlight makes the screen visible enough should you be in any low-light situation.

Accuracy and Performance

When you buy a meat probe then what you aim for is accuracy, after all, what’s the point of a thermometer if it isn’t. Fortunately, this TP20 thermometer is quite accurate. As mentioned, it’s got USDA approved temperatures so that’s one reason why it is so accurate and not only that, it is also very consistent and that’s a testament of the quality of its build.

ThermoPro advertises that their accuracy level is give or take 1.8 degrees F and if you’d ask us that’s quite acceptable. When it comes to range it’s also quite strong, it won’t go for exactly 300 feet maybe but it’s pretty close to what it claims to reach.

The TP20 thermometer, as mentioned, also has an alarm and as it sounds the remote will turn bright orange and it flashes visibly to make sure to notify you once it’s all done. The auto shut off feature is also a lifesaver to make sure your batteries run an efficient service life. It works with four AAA batteries and will auto shut off when not in use for 30 minutes, convenient if you left it running.

Don’t worry the device is not a battery killer, but take note that it will run out faster if you cook large chunks of meat say for about 12 straight hours compared to cooking small slabs of steak regularly.

The TP20 thermometer can also be used for vegetable, and even for desserts, and pizza making it a super-versatile device.

Gone are the days that you have to stoop down and burn your face (with steam) or your hands to test your food. It is, in essence, a safety device, and people appreciate how it alerts them promptly when their food is done, not mentioning that it is quite affordable and versatile.

Final Verdict

You just can’t beat the combination of features and convenience the ThermoPro TP20 Thermometer brings to the table. With the presets, the convenient range, and its affordable price it is surely a steal. If you tend to multitask often or tend to forget that you’re cooking something then this is the right product for you.

After all, our busy fast-paced lives require more advanced solutions.
